Diabetes Educator/Registered Dietitian

Currently, our rapidly expanding team is looking for a Diabetes Educator/Registered Dietitian who can work for us on a full-time permanent basis, supporting our LMC Ville St. Laurent site in Montreal.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Instruct patients on diabetes self management skills primarily through group settings & workshop
  • Develop a care plan for patients with diabetes (Type 1, 2, GDM, Pre-Diabetes)
  • Teach administration of insulin effectively, including titration and management as per medical directives
  • Perform patient follow ups in person, by e-mail or by telephone
  • Assess patient readiness for insulin pump therapy
  • Manage patients on insulin pump therapy, as per medical directives
  • Contribute to the development of patient handouts, as required
  • Provide consultation as requested to community groups, partners and team members.
  • Mentor nutrition volunteers, as required
  • Effectively communicate to patients, families, caregivers and healthcare professionals
  • Employ information technology appropriately for patient care (i.e. statistical tracking)
  • Stay current and aware of opportunities to implement new, evidenced-based methods of patient assessment and treatment

Requirements

  • Successfully completed a 4 year Food and Nutrition degree from an accredited university in addition to a one year internship
  • Must be fully billingual – English and French proficiency in written and oral communications
  • Reliable Transportation is a must 
  • Holds a valid RD license and is in good standing with the College of Dietitians
  • Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE) or willingness to obtain is considered an asset
  • Must have experience teaching/counseling in group settings
